The house is built on a sloping site in Oakleigh. Installed 3 retaining walls. Between retaining walls the
distance is 1-1.5 meters. Water enters the house through these walls. It is necessary to carry out external
waterproofing of  the wall. The situation is further complicated by limited space.

The soil has been dug up. The wall is plastered. Very often, due to time and water, plaster comes away
from the wall,becomes chipped and bubbles. Applying a waterproofing membrane over such plaster is a
waste of money and labor. Therefore, we remove the existing plaster from the wall using a grinder down
to bare brick. After this we wash the wall with a pressure washer.

After preparing the wall in this way, we can perfectly see all the problem areas through which water
penetrates inside.

As always, the weakest point is the junction of the foundation and the wall.  We form a 45* angle fillet at
corners between the foundation and the wall with  rapid-setting cementitious compound Sika Plug –
(Fast Setting Water Plug)

During excavations, it turned out that the soil was very wet. Moreover, the deeper it is, the wetter it is. This
gave grounds to believe that water does not penetrate into the ground from above. Water flows down the
hills in the earth’s thickness.
Therefore, we decided to install an AGI pipe below the Foundation-Wall joint. A scoria base was created
under the pipe for filtration.

Backfilling is carried out with layer-by-layer compaction of the soil (every 100mm).
