Another Garage has to be Waterproofed.

As it often appears, there are two problems indicated: the ground level outside the wall is higher than the floor level – so the moisture is coming inside from the soil through the brickwork; and, of course, Rising Damp.

Recently the owner renovated her yard with new blue stone pavers – so External Wall Waterproofing wasn’t an option.

With the approval from the owner, we’ve decided to complete the Internal Wall Waterproofing procedure:

Basic Leaking Garage – the water is coming through the brickwork from the outside as well as rising from below (Rising Damp).

The first step is Crack Injection – Injection of the Hydrophilic Polyurethane Injection Resin inside the wall to the outside ground level height (approximately 0.75m) and into the floor/wall joint (where the wall meets the concrete floor) – also into the central expansion joint, because as per owner’s words the water was coming through in heavy rains.

When the resin has firmed, mechanical injection packers were removed and the holes patched with suitable mortar / patching material.

The second step is the creation of the new Damp Proofing Course – injection of the DPC Cream into the lowest mortar bed.

The next day, when the cream was absorbed by the wall, the holes were patched with Fast Setting Water Plug.

Then the walls are rendered 200mm higher than the existing outside ground level to fill all the voids and emptiness.

The third step is the application of two coats of fiber-reinforced waterproofing membrane, suitable for negative pressure – 500mm up the walls and 150mm down the floor.

The triple-strength Waterproofing protection of the walls is a solid warranty that after the internal renovation of the garage (rendering, painting, epoxy floor coating) the garage will stay dry for a long, long time.
