Fixing the Structural Cracks
The building located in Richmond was constructed in 1857.
This building recognized as a historical heritage.

The walls are double brick with cavity, so the engineer decided to to perform the Crack Stitching on both sides: outside and inside.
The building is 7 meters high, and some cracks were at the top. We decided not to use the elevating work platform, because this would require completely blocking the adjacent road.
According to the technology, we cut slots into the horizontal mortar beds, a minimum of 500 mm either side of the crack, to the specified depth.

Then we cleaned out slots with pressure water hose.
We injected a bead of HeliBond to the back of the water cleaned slots and pushed the HeliBar into the grout to obtain good coverage.
Also, we removed the loose and deteriorated mortar visible to the eye.
Matching the exact color and texture of the mortar was really important.
As you can see in the pictures, we accomplished that with success. The client could not find boundaries between the old and the new mortars.
The next day we cleaned the brick with Hydrochloric Acid.
As a general, the operations inside the building are a little bit easier.
As agreed with the customer, we didn’t paint the walls, and our work hence consisted only in repairing cracks.
We have applied crack stitching technologies using HeliFix materials both outside and inside.
